It will mirror the audio as well, make sure your phone isn't on silent mode. If the ringer is turned off it won't pass the sound to AppleTV. Also check your volume level. Hope that helps!

I have air play working using my iPhone 4s, but I don't have any sound. Does air play only mirror the video?

Bought our second apple tv for the living room and there is no drop down to enable mirroring. Our older second gen apple tv in the bedroom works fine. Supposedly this is a software glitch. Went to the Apple store and they replaced it. Brought it home and this one doesn't work either. Now what?

@Brian

Sounds like you need to update your Apple TV. I had a friend with the same problem, there was an update to the Apple TV firmware with support for mirroring - since this is new to iOS 5 which just came out last Wednesday.

So I have the airplay screen above but my options don't allow me to turn on mirroring...it brings up iPhone, AppleTV, and my Airport Express. Won't mirrior... Would the Airport Express be messing it up somehow?? I just want to find the slider that days mirroring.

Hey, I've had a lot of success getting AirPlay to work at my parents' home where all the devices and routers are Apple products, but I can't get it to work at my own place with the 4S and my MacBook. ITunes doesn't even show the AirPlay button it normally does in the bottom right of the regular window.

I've checked all over both devices for settings and indications to no avail, including the 'super-secret' double tap and swipe you talk about being on the 4S, and looking for the "enable remotes" option in iTunes' (10.5) "Device Preferences" window, like you used to do on earlier versions of iTunes. I highly doubt that the fact I have a non-Apple wireless router makes any difference, and the wifi signal is consistent and high-powered.

I feel like I'm missing something on at least one device. Thoughts or suggestions?

Thanks
